Wow! I have to read the rest of this engrossing story. From the beginning it shows more depth than most romance novels. The quick, dynamic pacing intrigues me about what happens next. The dialogue style feels true to life. I love the complexity and honesty of these characters. I'm bored with romantic fluff. The story is rich and emotionally satisfying, like Nicholas Sparks, and it presents ancient times with sweep and detail, like Philippa Gregory. The history in it reminds me of the epic scope of the Michener books. This is great story-telling.

I loved it! Aria S.
An off-the-beaten-path romance. I like the setting and the multicultural aspect. Henry B.
Your reader barely has time to catch their breath, anxiously waiting to learn what will happen next. Well-placed clues and the broken pace heighten the anticipation. I look forward to more chapters as you draw your readers into Samara and Valerius' budding relationship, rewarding us with a historical sojourn in ancient Jerusalem. Cindy K.
Descriptive, yet candid - like Hemingway, while setting itself apart from taciturn novels by way of gripping dialogue. The first chapter has the introductions to important or influential characters. Your subtle uses of foreshadowing (I don't know if anyone else caught them) shows you are a true mystery novelist. I couldn't be paid to stay away from this story. I can't wait to see it in print. It should translate into an outstanding screenplay as well. Mark J.
Fast paced, intricate, richly descriptive and enticing. David N.
I like your fast-paced story. It kept me interested, and wanting more. Elaine B.
Captured my interest and left me wanting more ... setting a mysterious tone right away will always keep me reading and curiously curious. Good style. I want to see more of your writing. Linda A.
I really like the premise for your chapters. It has substance and style. Michalea M.
First, I like to learn something about history while enjoying an intelligent read. I like the perspective of seeing history from ground level, in the rough, dusty market streets crowded with Imperial troops, daily people going about their lives, no doubt plotting small and larger resistance, and that gray-eyed beauty. I also look forward to discovering how the two lives will intertwine without the accompanying sounds of ripping bodice material and lurid prose, rather honest passionate prose accurate to sincere emotional growth. Bill S
As a dyed-in-the-wool romance addict, I really enjoyed this first chapter. Your work is excellent. I loved the way the big, strong, he-man soldier fled, blushing.
I also liked that you understand something very few men get: Women who feel threatened often strive to be unattractive. Sometimes fear keeps them hiding their attributes long after the necessity is over. As Samara discovered, even that doesn't keep all of the wolves at bay.
To her, Valerius must seem like just another wolf. "I'm not in favor of sex..." Our hero's halting explanation and re-explanation had me in stitches. "...I would never have sex with you..." Samara had to be thinking, "Yeah, right." (Or something similar in the vernacular of the day.) I hope I get to read more. It's a 10! Bethany C.
Very unique and interesting time period. You definitely have a certain 'voice' to your writing and it fits well with the setting and characters. Patricia S.
I enjoyed it. It is set in a very interesting historical period and has characters I would like to know more about. The story reminds me of the work of Margaret Atwood. Raymond W.
Just the way a romance should be. I give you a 10. Elizabeth M.
Your passion for Roman history shows through. I like Samara and her strength. Perhaps it is Valerius' gentle nature that draws her to him after being surrounded by rather violent men her whole life.
The premise is interesting, with the promise of seeing Africa and Asia during this time period. There is a mystical feel to the story that I liked. The descriptions are nice. Although this isn't the type of book to generally capture my attention, once I started reading it, I was drawn in. Mai
I have found your writing style to be intelligent and layered, emotionally rich and inviting. It is a sophisticated and edgy style, appropriate to its story. The plot is fascinating and shows real people in real situations, even though they lived 1800 years ago. What a treat. I like an easy read, yet one that goes beyond fluff. Lillian
I can't stop wondering what comes next! Your writing style is compelling, intelligent and witty. I look forward to the other books you have planned -- and the Movies!!! Altus M.
